Montys Corner – October News from the Golf Course

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I hope this article finds you all well. September and October have been two very busy months at the club. I presume with the weather being so warm this year, more visitors have been coming here to relax and to go to the beach and play golf. You can see this clearly by the amount of traffic in the area and the crowds in the restaurants.

As you will have noticed on some of the fairways, I am having to control the water output. New pumps have been ordered for two more pump stations and will be installed once they have arrived. We have already replaced two pump stations with all new pumps on holes 7 and 13.

Since we are having abnormal heat this month, the wild boars are coming out in large numbers. We have been in touch with the Junta de Andalucia concerning the damage the animals are causing but there is nothing they will do about it for now. I do have a plan B and will put this into effect immediately. We have also been in touch with the Marbella town hall, and they are offering us all the support they can.

As you will have read and heard by now, I have gone totally inclusive with TaylorMade Golf. During my entire career I have been with Ping Golf, but now that I have changed, I have no doubt in my mind that I made the correct decision. TaylorMade Golf offers incredible service and is always there if you have any questions, not to mention that the golf clubs are excellent! We receive nothing but positive comments from our clients on our Stealth rental sets that arrived in spring this year.

In the first week of October, we organised a TaylorMade Fitting Day, which was very popular. We had seven straight hours of club fittings, and I can say that all members who participated were impressed with the system and how golf clubs that are fitted to your body shape really make a difference. It was so successful that we will be hosting another session in a few months, and I will be sending you an email soon with the date and time.

The AGM this year will be on October 18th in the Legends Room, hosted by our President, Steve Cullen, and the Members Committee, followed by the Captain’s Day Tournament on October 20th hosted by our Captain, Roger Kemp. Please sign up now via our App, as the last day to register is today Monday the 16th of October.

November is also going to be a busy month with the Ryder Cup being played on Monday the 6th and Wednesday the 8th of November and our Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday, November 24th. Please remember signing up to all events is done through the Clapphouse App. If you have any questions how to sign up via the App, please do not hesitate to ask Satu or our caddymasters in the golf shop.

The information on the Christmas lunch, served on December 25th, is now ready and you can start making bookings. Check the Restaurant El Olivo section of this newsletter for more information on the great menu served and the novel take away option available for the first time this year. Also, our restaurant menu will change again in the beginning of November for the autumn and winter seasons. We will inform you soon of the new menu items.

Thank you all for your continued support.
