Hello everyone, and welcome to the December edition of our club newsletter.
After several months of drought, we have finally received a good amount of rain which has been very beneficial to the golf course. This has really helped the front part of the green on hole 15 to grow and hopefully it will be open before the end of the year. I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding in this process.
Now that we are going into the low season, there are several projects we will perform that we have on our maintenance to-do list. We have already completed the first one, which is the non-slip pavement walking off the 18th green. Another important task will be installing the steps on the greenside bunker on hole 16. We will also continue with our maintenance programmes for all tees and greens during this period. Another key job is to put in place fencing to protect the course against the wild boar, and we are hoping to finish this by the end of the year.
I’m also delighted to announce that the new tee on hole 11 is now open and from the comments I am hearing on the terrace, it has proven to be a great test and a challenging tee shot.
The Annual General Meeting of the members was held on October 19th and on behalf of the management of the club I would like to give a warm welcome to the new committee elected at the AGM – President Steve Cullen, Captain Les McGlasson, Vice-Captain Roger Kemp, Ladies Interclub Captain Sheelagh Maloney and committee member Jan Zad.
We’ve had some great events in the last two months and I would like to congratulate all the winners of the Autumn, Ryder Cup and Thanksgiving tournaments. You can see the news articles on some of the events posted on our website.
The 2023 members competition calendar is now confirmed and published on the members board as well as the club website. Please note in your diaries the relevant dates.
Also remember that the Spanish Golf Federation licence fees will be charged to your bank accounts on the first week of January 2023, as usual. The new yearly fees will be announced by the Federation at the beginning of the year.
And last but not least I am thrilled to announce that we have had many new members join MGCC in the last two months. We are delighted to welcome you all to our club.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and my best wishes for the New Year!
