Monty’s Corner May News from the Golf Course

Hello everyone,

May has finally brought us some warm weather, which is much needed for the growth of our fairways and rough. The new Toro 1260 Greens Roller is in regular use, results thus far have been excellent and comments from Members/Clients regarding green speed have all been very positive. All 18 holes, Tees, Roughs and Fairways have had an aggressive fertilization program throughout the month of May. All Tees were Vertidrained during the month of April.

We will hollow core, top-dress & fertilize all Tees and Greens during the May closure week for course maintenance, May 30th to June 5th. We will also returf half of greens number 1 and number 15 to take out the paspalum grass. This is a major and important procedure, and we all appreciate your cooperation in this matter. One half of each green will be open as normal and at the end of August we will do the other half of the same greens. I am sure this process will be a great enhancement on the condition of the golf course and the putting surfaces.

On the other hand, I am very excited for the arrival of our second brand new machine, the new 2022 Toro Rough Mower, which will be with us at the end of May. We will put it to use immediately. Watch out for the June article for more details on this new machine.

During this past month, we have cleaned out the creeks (arroyos) on hole #14 and hole #15 to make them look better. The cascade to left of the green on hole #6 has been cleaned as well. But please remember that does not mean you all can aim there to hit your ball in it.

We are continuing to work diligently each and every day to make sure you all have a great condition golf course to come and play on a daily basis. See you all at the golf club!

Kindest regards,

Monty Bordelon, Director of Golf Operations
