Our first match of the new season took place at MGCC on Thursday 3rd November, against Los Arqueros Ladies. We were able to field a team of 8 Ladies (2 more than previously), as our Lady Members are now very keen to play in a team, that is all about having fun.
It turned out to be a nail-biting match as, prior to the last pair finishing, we were 5-4 down BUT Dulcinea and Maxine walked into the clubhouse with beaming smiles: they had won 3-0, giving Marbella Golf a total point score of 7 to Los Arqueros 5. Maxine also had a ‘chip in Birdie’ on the 4th! Fantastic Maxine!
Our next match against El Chaparral had to be postponed because of rain both home and away, so we are now finalizing the new dates for both matches.
After Christmas, the new Committee have agreed that we will have a special ladies’ competition every last Friday of the month. It will take place at the usual members tee times and Ladies can choose if they want to play in the All-Ladies group or with the usual Mixed group. The Ladies group will also include members of Abbey Gittings Academy and any Lady guests that our members may wish to invite. This is all about encouraging new ladies to join MGCC, by introducing them to our super friendly ladies. The first Friday will be on 27th January.
Also, please don’t forget that 2023 is the year that The Solheim Cup will take place at Finca Cortesín. The actual Cup will be on display at Marbella Golf Country Club the week beginning 13th February and there will be one or more special events that week. Watch this space!
