Happy New Year, Ladies!
I know, I know… we are already in February, but with the celebrations behind us, it’s time to dust off the clubs and tee off into what promises to be another fantastic and busy year at Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort.
A Warm Welcome to our new Lady members
A warm welcome to Joanne Houston, Marianne Burato, Irina Konyaeva and Anne Reynolds, hopefully we will see you soon attending our members’ competitions and I will be looking forward to playing with you both.
Interclub Competitions
We got the year off to a great start with our first 2026 Interclub game versus Miraflores Golf Club, unfortunately the first match scheduled for Friday 16th January playing away was cancelled due to weather conditions. We will rearrange this game, and I will share further details as soon as I receive more information.
Our ladies, composed by Chrissie Wills, Melanie Scholz, Sue Sweeney, Helga Van Der Zon, Johanna Paaavilainen, Delia Berkery, Anneke Samways and me proudly represented the club at home on January 16th and took good care of the opposition team. We have created a very special relationship with the Miraflores Ladies, working with Lesley Brown on the organization side was an absolute pleasure, followed by a wonderfully friendly match with everyone involved, I sincerely hope this relationship continues for many years to come. To top off the day, we enjoyed a very successful and comfortable win, with an impressive final score of 9.5 for HMGR and 2.5 for Miraflores. We are already looking forward to playing the away game soon.
Well done everyone! Our next Interclub against La Cala Golf Resort, is on February 12th at home and there has been a slight change to the away date which is now Wednesday 18th February.
Ladies Away Day at Torrequebada Golf Club on Wednesday, 8th April 2026
You have all received an email with the details regarding this special day which includes:
A round of golf with a shared buggy, a delicious 2 course meal + 1 drink, transfer from HMGR to Torrequebrada and back & Winning Prize!
We have had a great response to this event, and places are limited. To secure your spot, please email or WhatsApp me.
Rules Corner: Accidentally Moving the Ball
- Teeing area (before the first stroke):
If your tee ball falls off the tee or is accidentally knocked off by you before you make a stroke, you may re-tee the ball anywhere in the teeing area with no penalty.
If you then make a stroke at that falling or fallen ball, the stroke counts and there is no penalty.
- Putting green:
There is no penalty if a ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved on the putting green by you or anyone else. You simply replace the ball to its original spot or estimated spot.
- Elsewhere on the course (fairway, rough, etc.):
If you accidentally cause your ball at rest to move (for example by brushing it with your club during a practice swing, sliding a foot, by moving branches or stepping on roots near your ball), you will incur a one-stroke penalty and must replace the ball on its original spot.
Positive Thoughts
No one remembers the bad shots you keep replaying in your head. Surround yourself with golfers who celebrate your shots like they hit them.
Focus on progress, not perfection. If you are 1% better than last month, you are already winning. Golf is tough, don’t pile more pressure on yourself.
Enjoy the walk, the best rounds are not about the score, they are about who you play them with.
Enjoy the game… swing slow and laugh loudly!
Warm wishes,
Cristina Fernandez Romero
Lady Interclub Captain
