I am Jan Zadruzynski and was delighted to be elected by the Members at the AGM on 16/10/24 as the new Captain at Marbella Golf Country Club. I am taking over the role from Roger Kemp and I would like to thank him for his hard work as Captain and also on the Members committee. I would also like to extend my thanks to Sheelagh Maloney who resigned from the committee as Ladies coordinator after 3 years of dedicated service.
I am delighted to welcome Joe McKelvey and Cristina Fernandez Romero onto the new committee in the role of Vice Captain and Ladies coordinator respectively. The other members in the committee are Stephen Cullen (President) and Brian St John.
A few days after the AGM was Captains Day, which was extremely well attended with 64 players and many more guests joining for lunch and great entertainment by Mark Conor on the large terrace. We were extremely fortunate with the weather as we had 6 straight days of rain leading up to the event, but the rain stopped, and the sun came out and a great day was had by all. Congratulations to Andrew Farrant (Mens) and Sheelagh Maloney (Ladies) who were the big winners on the day and well done to all participants.
The members’ competitions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays have been both friendly and competitive and have been very well attended. With the membership numbers continuing to grow it is advised to book your place early via the Clapphouse app to avoid disappointment.
Which brings me onto the latest members event, the annual Ryder cup event between the Presidents and Captains team over 2 days in a matchplay format. It was a great competition played in great spirit, but unfortunately the Presidents team had a narrow win 22.5 – 13.5.
The course continues to be in excellent condition and as we head towards 2025, we can look forward to great golf and Christmas celebrations at Marbella Golf Country Club.
