The American Independence Day Celebrations went off with a bang at Marbella Golf Country Club on Monday the 4th July 2016, with a Shotgun start and a Texas Scramble. Although the majority of the players were non-Americans, they all got into the spirit of the day with great enthusiasm.
Our guests enjoyed a typical American style Barbecue lunch and were entertained by Johnny Westwood. The Star Spangled Banner was sung with gusto by all.
Prizes of nearest the pin along with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were awarded.
Nearest to pin for men was for John Bryan and the nearest to pin in 2 for John Radcliffe. The ladies’ nearest to pin prize was for Anita Cullen. The winning teams were:
- 1st place; Jim Robertson, Freddie and Paul Dunford & Paul Waters
- 2nd place; John Radcliffe, Stuart Sutherland, Tim Slate & Brian McCartney
- 3rd place; Maxine Hobson, Steve Cullen, Gerard & Sue McDonough
