The Gecko Pro Tour’s professionals tournament was held on November 8th and 9th at Marbella Golf.

The early impression from all the players was the condition of the course; after some heavy rain days before the event the ground staff worked miracles to get the course set up for 2 days of competitive golf.

Day 1 saw European Tour player Carlos Rodiles tee up as well as young stars James Watts, Simon Boyd and Adam Sagar to name a few.

The field was represented by nine different nationalities.

With the sun shining and a gentle breeze scores were expected to be good. Out of the blocks first was Simon Boyd; now playing his trade in Spain the young Englishman posted a fine round of 69 which would give him a 1 shot lead going into the final 18 holes. He was closely followed by English duo James Watts (70), James Scade (70) with Adam Sagar and Ed Barry Walsh both on level par 72.

Day 2 started of in similar conditions; the course in fantastic shape and a few players playing catch up. Carlos Rodiles was one of them, his opening round of 73 was soon forgotten. He played steady through the opening 15 holes but three closing birdies put him in front. A fine round of 68 -4, in the  clubhouse on 141, 3 under par.

The leaders hearing the news of the new leader were now playing catch up. Both Scade and Boyd were 1 behind standing on 17. Hole 17 is a par 5 that most players  would look to birdie. They had different pressures and both players had good chances but Scade holed and would join Rodiles on -3 with 1 to play.

The short 18th hole par 4 was a perfect opportunity for Scade to win his first professional title. He didn’t disappoint; a wedge to 8 foot clenched fists as it rolled into the hole. It was a great tournament in an even better setting. James Scade proved to be a worthy champion who held his nerve to win his first ever tournament as a professional.
