The football legends triumph over the Sport journalists.
The Postbank Golf Tournament raised 37.000 euros for the «Uwe Seeler» Foundation.
Between the 9th and 12th January of this year, the 12th Postbank Golf Tournament was disputed in Marbella. The German television host, Jörg Wontorra, invited again many European and World champions of the German Football team to this traditional yearly golf tournament. The ex-football players played against famous sport journalists and raised funds for the “Uwe Seeler” Foundation of a total of 37.000 euros for the needy.
The «Postbank-Ryder-Cup» Golf Tournament, which was celebrated on the 12th January at Marbella Golf CC, was the highlight of this event, in which German sport journalists competed against the ex-professional football players. After the victory of the previous year by the football players team, Klaus Fischer, the Captain of this team, was sure to defend the title also this year. He was right as the ex-football stars with Bernd Schuster, Rainer Bonhof, Andy Möller, Uwe Bein and Bernd Hölzenbein in their team, won over the journalists with 11,5 over 6,5.
37.000 euros for «our Uwe’s» Foundation
The prize giving was a huge celebration. All the participants applauded Uwe Seeler’s work, the commitment of Postbank and other sponsors and collaborators, thanks to whom the amount of 37.000 euros was raised. These funds have been destinated to the Uwe Seeler Foundation, that helps the needy.
When the cheque was presented by Joachim Strunk, the Director of the Corporative Communications of Postbank, all thanked „our Uwe“ and all the persons involved. Uwe Seeler said: „Thank you for all of you for coming to support my foundation. I am grateful to Postbank for their donation and the help they have given us to make this tournament a reality. It’s magnificent to see that the sport ambition is not most important, but the idea to help the needy, who are not as fortunate as us.“
