Burns Night celebration

The Burns Supper celebrating the poet Rabbie Burns kicked off to a great start with glasses of cava and the music of Scotland followed by a typical Burns supper of smoked haddock chowder and Haggis with neeps and tatties.  The splendid address to the Haggis was given by our very own member Stuart Patterson dressed in his Scottish family tartan to the accompaniment of the Scottish national anthem “O Flower of Scotland”.

He followed this with a lesson in the Gay Gordon dance and a Strictly Scottish competition won by Jo Nelson Cains and her partner.  Music was provided by Frank Valentine and then Hugh Craig our DJ and member.  Over 80 people attended what proved to be a very successful evening enjoyed by all.
